Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!

One of the core values here at Manitou Springs Elementary is our desire to grow the WHOLE CHILD. From nurturing staff and classroom settings, to the Core Knowledge Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science curricula, to hands on learning experiences and field trips, authentic learning continues to strengthen and deepening content for all students each and every day.

Extension and enrichment or teacher collaboration will take place at every grade level. Sometimes this looks like a whole-group lesson I go into the classroom to share. Other times this is a consistent pull-out where I work with a specific group of students to take learning to the next level and apply it to authentic activities. By partnering with teachers, I will continue supporting regular curriculum to help make learning more vivid and meaningful. Together, we will help your child reach new skill levels and build personal interest to hold themselves to more productive standards!

UCCS Kids University for Inquisitive learners

UCCS has just begun a new program called Kids University for Inquisitive learners, grades 1st – 7th.  We are offering a wide variety of topics for classes, and are excited to extend the opportunity to you to enroll your child or student in this program.

Kids University is an academic program for children grades 1-7 who are inquisitive learners. All classes are offered at an age-appropriate grade level, while still challenging the young learner to be a creative & innovative thinker. There will be two sessions of classes that run for (3) hours each on Saturdays in the Spring semester for four consecutive weeks. Instructors for the classes are teachers, content experts, faculty at UCCS, and other dynamic instructors who have been approved by the College of Education and Campus Wide Extended Studies at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). Students will have an opportunity to learn more about specific content areas while also experiencing hands-on learning strategies.

I have included and attached some information about Kids University, but please visit our website, http://www.uccs.edu/kidsu, for more details and registration instructions.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you have, or to simply pass along this information, and I look forward to seeing each of your students in April.

Dates:  April 13th, 20th, 27th & May 4th (3 hour sessions on Saturdays)
Times: Two session times available, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and/or 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Cost:   $125 for each course (each course includes all 4 sessions)
